Habitat for Humanity of Iredell County works with hundreds of volunteers during the course of the year. Each one makes a significant impact in their own way, but a select few go beyond the call of duty by expressing a heartfelt dedication to Habitat’s mission. George Caudle is one of those dedicated individuals. George has been involved with Habitat for Humanity for a number of years. He has volunteered on Habitat construction sites as an individual, as a member of countless volunteer groups through First Presbyterian Church, and as a construction supervisor for our Collegiate Challenge student volunteer groups. A day spent working alongside George hardly feels like work. He has a calm and pleasant way about him. He also has a special gift for teaching new volunteers how to build. When we asked our most recent Collegiate Challenge volunteers what they enjoyed most about their time in Statesville, several of them said working with (and talking to) George. George doesn’t stop supporting Habitat when the work is done. He has been known to invite groups of volunteers to his home to meet his wife and see the hotrod he’s building in his garage. He also attends Habitat special events, dinners and fundraisers whenever possible. It is rare to find a volunteer who gives so freely of his services and so openly of himself. |
