Fourth Creek Village

First Presbyterian Church is excited to share news of its anniversary mission project. The anniversary committee and Christian Action Division of the church have developed plans to buy a tract of land, subdivide it into nine lots, build a house for Habitat for Humanity on one of the lots, and make the other lots available to local congregations for building additional houses for Habitat. Members of First Presbyterian are being challenged to give up to $90,000 for the property and the house, for which they will provide the labor. Grants from Habitat for Humanity International will help with the infrastructure expense.

The congregation has had a long association with Habitat for Humanity, having built four houses over the years, two of those in partnership with other churches. Last year the Men’s Bible Class contributed to help complete two houses on Tradd Street. In the spring Habitat for Humanity International founders Millard and Linda Fuller spoke at the church to recognize the Youth United program, which has involved youth from many local churches and organizations in Habitat house construction. During two hundred fifty years of ministry, members of First Presbyterian Church have felt a sense of obligation to serve Statesville and Iredell County. In the past thirty years church has developed Kings Grant and Kings Grant Court to provide housing for retirees on limited incomes and has had leading roles in developing Elder Center and what became Fifth Street Ministries, of which the church remains a partner. The church also helps support the work of Hospice, Yokefellow, and Barium Springs Home for Children, among other local mission and service agencies. Members serve on boards of these organizations and of United Way and the Salvation Army as well as the local chapter of Habitat for Humanity.

A VILLAGE OF LOVE

Share the love of Jesus Christ by providing a home, shelter, and place to find love and comfort for seven families in the Iredell Statesville area.

WHAT ARE WE DOING?

Nine homes will be constructed and financed by community partners and partner families. Partner families will purchase the homes after completion with a zero interest loan after investment of sweat equity in their home and others. The home sites are located on Monsanto Dr. in Statesville, NC.

HOW CAN I BE A PART?

Habitat for Humanity of Iredell-Statesville is the local affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, which will be coordinating the project for overall support of the HFH mission. First Presbyterian Church of Statesville will be providing leadership for the project and coordination of community support. Partner organizations may participate at three levels: Whole House Partner, Half House Partner and Partner. The minimum participation financial level will be $2,000. A Whole House is $46,000*. Individuals may also partner at any level. Gifts in Kind and Memorial gifts are also appreciated. Along with financial participation volunteer labor and prayers will be needed. We will need many hands. Complete the volunteer and financial forms and return them today.

SO WHAT DO I GET?

God’s gifts to us are never ending and always much, much more than we deserve. But with efforts like Fourth Creek Village to build a better community with the hammer of God for those in need you can expect:
1. Hands on opportunities to work “with” not “do for” God’s people in need.
2. Opportunities to share common goals with the least, the last, and the lost.
3. Excitement with neighbors who are just like you in caring for others.
4. Working with others in faith and our faith, together as believers.
